This year I was again honoured to lead the community on Tumbatrek to Mannus Lake through the beautiful high country surrounding Tumbarumba.
Tumbratrek has evolved into a significant local event that brings together the community and visitors to experience the remarkable scenery on a trek through the high country.
I was pleased to see so many people participating in this year’s walk, as Tumbratrek is a well-regarded tradition for Tumbarumba which brings an economic boost to the town.
It was also pleasing to see students from Tumbarumba High School participating in the trek again this year. These students and their teachers are in training to complete the Kokoda Track; an excellent way for them to learn our precious history, challenge themselves and imbibe some values that will stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives.
I’d encourage everyone in Eden-Monaro to spend some time in Tumbarumba exploring the beautiful bushwalking tracks, vineyards, trout streams and sheep and cattle stations.
Well done to the organisers and volunteers for again putting together a well organised and successful event.
